The name of the Nintendo DSi XL says it all, indeed this new console of Nintendo is Extra Large. Why, we hear you thinking, should we invest in a bigger portable game console, when ‘thin’ and ‘small’ are the popular things at the moment. But maybe Nintendo thought, when we enlarge the screen going from 3’25 inch to 4’2 inch, we might just tap in to a different market. The market of the visually impaired and old people.



Nintendo DSi XL: new market
The larger screens however are very vivid and crisp and give you a better gaming experience. The slight downfall of an expanded screen is that, with the same 256x192 resolution as the smaller screens and a good set of eyes you can see the now larger pixels, which gives games a slightly blockier look. An issue that's probably not as noticeable to the older crowd for which the XL is clearly designed.
