In the land of kangaroos and the aborigines, surfing is a very popular activity. An ideal location for surfing is Syndey. The most popular beach in and around Sydney is Bondi Beach. Here at Bondi Beach we got our first surf lessons and after having learned the basics we took our board and started riding the waves.

Not every beach location is suitable for surfing. Surf fans sometimes have to travel all over the world to catch the best waves. Bondi Beach is such a location. "Bondi" or "Boondi" is said to be an Aboriginal word meaning "water breaking over rocks" or "noise of water breaking over rocks."
Beach activities
Surfing isn’t the only activity that takes place on Bondi Beach. For example, in the past they used to baptize the immigrants here into official Australians. In 2002 during the Olympic Summer Games, Bondi Beach was the location for the beach volleyball competitions. Bondi Beach was also, according to IMDB, the film location for the last scene in the movie Point Break with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Nowadays it’s a popular location for festivals and celebrating Christmas in bikini or swimsuit.
