Preview: Prince of Persia
New Prince of Persia!
Developer Ubisoft announced that they will release a fourth of Prince of Persia. This is not going to be a follow up on the original trilogy. The fourth Prince of Persia has a totally new storyline and graphical style. In contrast to its predecessors it doesn’t have any cel-shaded graphics. The game has a so called illustrative style. Everything in the game is impressively detailed, characters and landscapes look like beautiful interactive paintings.
Storyline
This version of the Prince of Persia is based on an old Persian mythology. The story is about the eternal struggle between the gods Ormazd (good) and Ahriman (evil). Ahriman was locked up into the Tree of Life that is destructed after 200 years. Evil is spreading and it is the quest of the Prince to free the world, one area at a time, of this plague.
Gameplay
The Prince of Persia has elements of Puzzling, Platforming and Combat. No different from earlier games but now the emphasis is more on exploration and using the Prince his acrobatic abilities to reach new areas. If something goes wrong you’ll no longer have The Dagger of Time, instead the Prince wears a gauntlet on his left hand with clawed fingers. This can be used as a combat weapon and to perform a grip fall. The battles are now always one-on-one and you can pull off 15-hit combos. The Prince also has a sidekick, the beautiful and mysterious Elika, which can assist you in combat and puzzle solving.
The new Prince of Persia is going to be launched by Ubisoft Xbox 360, PS3, PC and on the Nintendo DS.
